Tasks

  • Ensure that the buildings and open spaces used by the animals are safe: do an inspection when arriving at work in the morning, check the condition of screens and doors, ensure that cell doors are shut and locked, ensure that the workplace (service areas, enclosures, etc.) is safe for staff, visitors and the animals.
  • Clean the outside enclosures: clean up manure; remove any objects (objects used to stimulate the animals or objects thrown by visitors) found inside the enclosures; clean the troughs and feeders.
  • Clean the inside enclosures: clean up manure; change the bedding; clean the walls, floors and screens; clean the troughs and feeders; and disinfect if needed.
  • Check the temperature, humidity and lighting.
